The June Board of Education Meeting will be held as scheduled on June 17, and will be open to the public, in-person.

I want to personally welcome you to our district's redesigned website. I hope you will take the time to explore the website and should note, the site will continually be updated with additional content and materials.

The 2020-2021 school year has been unlike any other in history. We continue to live through unprecedented moments in which so much is at stake for our children, community, state, and nation. Indeed, during this once-in- a century pandemic, the decisions we make about teaching and learning today will reverberate for generations to come.

That's why we are committed to doing everything possible to ensure all students that attend the Hillside Public Schools have access to rigorous-accelerating-culturally relevant curricula experiences, socio-emotional learning opportunities and support, and co-curricular activities that propel them into successful futures while becoming our nation's next generation of leaders, innovators, and citizens that contribute to the vitality of their communities.

While this global health crisis continues to alter our lives, it has provided us opportunities to reimagine our schools and the way we educate our students. Our theme for the year is New Pathways, New Possibilities. When launching this school year, we examined new ways to innovate, evolve, and accelerate potential learning loss; while making learning more engaging, interesting, and enjoyable for our students.

Our work as educators is bolstered by a highly supportive community that strongly values education and is consistently willing to ensure resources are available to support our academic programs, extracurricular clubs and organizations, and family-community engagement activities. I want to thank every parent, caretaker, and community member who continues to assist us, making the necessary sacrifices needed to support our students whose potential remains boundless.

In September of 2020, the New Jersey Department of Education formally recognized the Hillside Public Schools as a, "high performing school district," based on our NJQSAC review. Our diverse and inclusive school community provides an environment ripe for creativity, critical thinking, collaboration, and problem solving.

From academics to athletics and the arts, we are continuing to improve our schools to ensure they are models of educational excellence. As you click through the information on this site, I believe it will become clear why we are so proud to be Comets and remain Hillside Strong! We hope our new website provides you the information you need to continue to support our students while taking advantage of vast opportunities prevalent in the Hillside Public Schools.

As always, a better tomorrow starts with us today.
