Today (August 1st, 2024) was the last day of Hillside Public Schools' Summer Academies! Congratulations to all our scholars from Pre-Kindergarten through 8th Grade who participated in many engaging, educational, and fun courses throughout the district! Teachers of grades 3-5 spent their first 3 of 6 days in the National Training Network's Summer Mathematics Institute! Presenter, Valerie Thomas, engaged teachers in fun standards-based problem solving experiences over the course of the three days! On the third day, the presenter turned the classroom over to the teachers and allowed them to showcase their own strategies for problem solving!
This Summer 'boot camp' was the result of Superintendent Glover's mission to have all students engage with high level standards-aligned curriculum and instruction!

From June 26th to June 30th, 2024, the JETS (Junior Engineering and Technology Club) at Hillside High School participated in the National TSA (Technology Student Association) Conference in Orlando, Florida. The conference sessions boosted students' critical thinking skills, by engaging them in a design/build challenge, multiple-choice exam, and presentation. The experience strengthened students' confidence in STEM and enhanced teamwork skills! With a focus on solving complex problems together, participants tackled the exciting theme of "Engineering Another World,” looking at problem-solving techniques, time management techniques, and planning strategies.
