On Friday, June 2nd, students from Mr. Skelton’s class, Ms. Sala Della Cuna’s class, and the garden club, with the help of the Union County Parks Department, cleaned up Charlotte DeFilippo Park! Students were joined by Hillside Education Association President Angela Lawler, Hillside Public Schools Superintendent, Erskine Glover, and Hillside Board of Education President Kimberly Cook.

On Friday, June 2nd, Ms. Alvarez’s class celebrated the accomplishments they made in Move This World! Move This World sent the students certificates through the SEL program. Joining Ms. Alvarez in celebrating their achievement is Dieayah Bryant, social worker, Ms. Maria, paraprofessional, Hilda Rozas, speech teacher, and Principal Graham. Ms. Alvarez’s class is top three in usage at A.P. Morris Early Childhood Center!

On May 23rd, 2023, Hillside Innovation Academy (HIA) held its Iron Chef student cooking competition! The 7th and 8th-grade competitors had a great time. Though the competition was close, the judges selected the 7th-grade burger as the winning creation, and their burger will be featured on the June lunch menu at HIA! Thank you, Sarah from Maschio’s and Principal Dr. Silva for making the event fun for all our competing student chefs!

Congratulations Mr. Todaro & Ms. Williams' second-grade class at Ola Edwards Community School for winning the "Excite Reading All-Star Games"! The students were encouraged to read through our new online platform Learning Ally for 20 minutes a day. The class read for a total of 2,206 minutes to win the game! Learning Ally provided a pizza party for the winning class.
