On May 23, 2023, Hillside High School students went to the Schomburg Center for Research in Black Culture! The Schomburg Center for Research in Black Culture in Harlem is one of the world’s leading cultural institutions devoted to the research, preservation, and exhibition of materials focused on African American, African Diaspora, and African experiences. Students explored exhibits such as Marking Time: Art in the Age of Mass Incarceration, which explores the impact of the US prison system on contemporary visual art. Afterward, students and staff went to the world-famous Sylvia's Restaurant for lunch! All in attendance had a wonderful day exploring the rich culture of Harlem. Thank you, Dr. Paz, and all Hillside Public Schools staff that made this trip possible! #Hillsidehighschools #hillsidenj #hillsidehighschool #blackhistory #harlemny #nyc #schooltrip #schomburgcenter
